Audition Tips
Just how do you prepare for Bandolera auditions? What can you expect? Take a look below to help yourself prepare for auditions:
- LOOK SHARP! - Wear makeup. Hair should be secured away from face.
- SMILE THE ENTIRE TIME!
- WALK IN WITH CONFIDENCE AND DANCE WITH CONFIDENCE!
- Your face and posture make everything you do look 10 times better!
- If you do make a mistake, keep going! That's worth more points than you would lose for making the error!
- Don't get nervous if you get called back. Just do your best. You have an opportunity to prove how strong you really are!
- Look at the judges when you are dancing and smile at them (even if they don't smile back!) Like I said - CONFIDENCE!
- The more you perform the dance with full energy, the better you will do during tryouts so PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
What to Expect
- You will be given a number and will tryout in numerical order in groups of 3-4.
- Your group will enter the tryout area; perform the dance routine, both splits, and any other skills/technique the judges may want to see.
- You will be scored on: Overall Kick Technique, Splits, Dance Technique, Showmanship, Memory, Timing/Rhythm, and Poise
- You must stay through the entire tryout since you may be called back to audition again.
- If you are called back, DO NOT FREAK OUT, it just means the judges want to see you again as they may have missed you performing a certain skill the first time around. They may ask you to perform the routine again or just to see a certain skill such as a pirouette.
